Once I receive your enquiry, I’ll be in touch to discuss availability and make a plan that feels right for you. I offer personalised, evidence-based breastfeeding support in your own home, including antenatal breastfeeding preparation and postnatal support in the early weeks and beyond.

✨ ONE YEAR OF THE LATCH LADY ✨

It’s been a whole year… and wow, what a ride!

After the most epic birth of my baby (and the unshakeable belief that I can do anything I put my mind to), followed by a wildly challenging breastfeeding journey (and still proudly breastfeeding today), I made the very brave decision to step away from my permanent role at NSW Health, back myself, and start The Latch Lady.

This past year has been full to the brim! Over the past 12 months I have supported hundreds of incredible women and families, built a business from the ground up, opened my clinic space at Birth Time The Village, created and launched my Breastfeeding Ready Workshop, finished my midwifery prescribing & diagnostics degree, became an endorsed midwife, and worked alongside the most inspiring women in small businesses (midwives, doulas, chiros, osteos, GPs).

I want to say the biggest thank you, truly.
To the women and families who have called me, invited me into your homes and your feeding journeys, and trusted me to support you during such a vulnerable, raw, and deeply important time in your lives, it is an absolute privilege.

Your trust, your kind words, and especially your word-of-mouth referrals have meant everything. I am so deeply humbled and grateful for this community.

Here’s to one year of The Latch Lady and to continuing to support families for many years to come 🤍✨

How do women breastfeed in the side lying position?

Side-lying can be a total game changer if you’re:
✨ Recovering from a perineal tear or tenderness
✨ Post Caesarian and avoiding pressure on your wound
✨ Contact napping/clister-feeding/staying horizontal for your own sanity
✨ Co-sleeping with your baby

You don’t need special equipment to breastfeed comfortably. A few pillows and some clever positioning can make all the difference! 🤱

Sometimes breastfeeding feels like the most natural thing in the world: your baby snuggles in, your body responds, and it just works.
Other times, it feels like a full-time puzzle that nobody gave you the manual for. You’re doing everything “right,” yet it still hurts, or your baby won’t latch, or you’re questioning every feed.

Both can be true.
It can be beautiful and brutal. Instinctive and learned. Effortless one day and overwhelming the next.

Probably the biggest question I get asked as a midwife and IBCLC is “How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?” 💭

It can feel tricky when you can’t see the numbers like you can with a bottle but your baby has plenty of ways to show you they’re doing just fine. 💕

Those sweet “almost term” babies often need just a little extra help with feeding. 💛
Late preterm and early term babies can look just like full-term newborns but their feeding skills and stamina often need more support and patience.

Did you know you don’t need to wash and sterilise your pump parts after every use if you’re pumping multiple times a day?

Clean smarter not harder!

Nose to nipple! The magic starting point for a deeper, more comfortable latch. It helps your baby tilt their head back, open wide and get a lovely mouthful of breast (not just the nipple!). Simple but game changing!!

If you are making adjustments to your positioning and latch and still feeling pain - please get support! Breastfeeding shouldn’t be painful!

Myth-busting time!
There are so many rules out there about what you must avoid while breastfeeding. The truth is simpler: most foods are fine and your own nutrition matters.

I thought I’d re-introduce myself 👋

I’m Georgie, also known as The Latch Lady. I’m a mum, midwife, child and family health nurse, and lactation consultant (IBCLC) based in Sydney’s Inner West. 💕

I started The Latch Lady earlier this year, and I am so humbled by the women and families I’ve supported so far. It’s such a privilege to be invited into this intimate and vulnerable season of life.

My own breastfeeding journey had its challenges, and it really shifted how I see infant feeding. I know it can be hard, and I’m not here to tell you what’s right or wrong, but to guide you in a way that feels right for you and your family.

Every parent deserves to feel confident and supported, whether breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or a mix of both.

Don’t cry over “spilt” milk… repurpose it instead!
If you’ve got breastmilk that’s past it’s feeding life (like leftovers in a bottle, or milk that’s been in the fridge or freezer too long), it doesn’t need to go to waste. Instead of tipping it down the sink, add it to your baby’s bath. It can help moisturise and soften their skin.

Other ways you can use breastmilk :
▫️ On dry skin or eczema
▫️ For mild nappy rash
▫️ On cradle cap
▫️ Sticky eyes

Every drop is liquid gold ✨ even if it’s not feeding milk any more 💛

I thought I knew everything there was to know about breastfeeding and assumed with all my knowledge it would come easy for me… boy was I wrong!!

Breastfeeding was hard, overwhelming and cracked me wide open. This journey changed me as a mother, as a midwife and IBCLC. Now when I sit with you in the thick of it all, I don’t just bring knowledge, but lived experience, softness and a deep respect for whatever your feeding story looks like 💕

What free support services have you found helpful in the early weeks?

Ever heard the phrase “start with the main, then offer dessert”? When it comes to breastfeeding, imagine your breasts like dinner plates.

Once your milk supply has settled in, starting with the opposite breast to the last feed can help ensure both sides are getting equal love and stimulation over the course of the day. This can support a balanced supply and prevent over/underuse of either side.

✨ Every baby and breast is different — so remember, this is just one option. In some cases, block feeding or switch feeding may be more appropriate (especially with high or low supply concerns).

I have seen so many mums this week navigating a fast flow. Flow and supply is one of those things that feel like they have to be just right - not too fast, not too slow. A fast flow can make feeds feel chaotic, stressful and downright overwhelming - for both you and your baby.
